Fabricio Werdum Blasts Tony Ferguson: 'This Guy Sucks'

Fabrício Werdum and Tony Ferguson engaged in a tense moment last Thursday during a UFC media lunch in Los Angeles.
What seemed to start as a simple altercation turned into quite a scene in which the UFC lightweight and his heavyweight colleague had to be separated by officials.
"This guy sucks," Werdum said. “He and I were just sitting there to do the interviews and he already greeted me in a pretty rude way. I just thought...yeah, okay. I've seen him in other situations, I had already talked to him before. Then I went to talk to someone on my side and he told me to shut up. Shut the f*ck up. Shut the f*ck up, you son of a bitch. I got pissed. I went crazy. This is not how it works.
"Then he told everyone that he doesn’t like Ali [Abdel-Aziz], my manager. But what do I have to do with that? He had a very negative energy. I was never friends with him, but there was no conflict, either. It was quite normal between us. Then he says that it was because of Ali, but what does Ali have to do with me, right?"

On scene, Werdum got up and attacked Ferguson in Portuguese and Spanish, who responded in both Spanish and English. Ferguson remained seated until UFC PR director Chris Costello got in between and separated the two. At that point, Ferguson also got up and shot a few more words into the former heavyweight champion’s direction, which led to Werdum storming away.
"When Chris [Costello] came in the middle, he got up. Then he acted like the strong guy because there was someone in the middle, right? But before, he didn’t get up. He’s an idiot. His energy is too heavy, Jesus. There is no connection between his thoughts on Ali and what he has with me. He got it completely wrong."
Both fighters will compete at UFC 216 on October 7 in Las Vegas. While Werdum is set to lock horns with Derrick Lewis, Ferguson will be featured in the main event, fighting for the interim lightweight belt against Kevin Lee.
