UFC 214 Results: Jon Jones Knocks Out Daniel Cormier To Win Title
Jon Jones knocked out Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 to win his light heavyweight title back in emphatic fashion.
Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier rematched at UFC 214 in Anaheim after more than two years of anticipation.
Jones previously defeated Cormier at UFC 182 to defend his light heavyweight title, but outside-the-cage issues forced him to relinquish that strap, which Cormier later won at UFC 187 against Anthony Johnson.
Saturday, July 29, inside the Honda Center, MMA fans got resolution. Jones is the man.
After a relatively tame first round that saw Jones pick his shots and keep his distance against Cormier, the champ turned it up, winning Round 2 on most scorecards with his forward pressure and in-fighting.
One left kick to the head in Round 3 changed everything. Spit and snot flew as Jones connected with a left high kick, putting Cormier on wobbly legs and signaling the end.
Jones swarmed, landing a trip and some follow up elbows, and he reclaimed the gold that was once his.
The king is back. Jones wins via third-round knockout at UFC 214, and it's almost as if we picked up right where we left off, Jones atop the mountain, riding high above the rest.
"I made it back, man," Jones told Joe Rogan inside the Octagon following the fight. "...As long as you never quit, it's never over. I'm back here. Oh yeah."
