Watch: Jon Jones Brutally Chokes Out Lyoto Machida At UFC 140
Watch Jones Jones choke Lyoto Machida unconscious at UFC 140 ahead of his UFC 214 rematch against Daniel Cormier.
At UFC 140 in December 2011, Jon Jones faced one of the trickiest puzzles in MMA--Lyoto Machida.
The Karate expert Machida moved like none other, coupling damn-near perfect defense with unorthodox offensive blitzes that flat-lined opponents throughout his illustrious career. A former champion, Machida looked to regain gold against the young phenom Jones, and for one round, he was on his way.
In the opening frame, Jones had troubles with Machida's style. He was not the dominant, annihilate-you-everywhere fighter fans were used to seeing inside the Octagon.
Between rounds, however, something clicked, and the fight was punctuated with one of the most gruesome submissions in UFC history toward the end of Round 2. Jones' second title defense was complete, and the scene is unforgettable.
Now, Jones assumes the role of Machida as the challenger Saturday, July 29, at UFC 214, where he will face rival Daniel Cormier for the undisputed UFC light heavyweight championship.
