UFC Newcomer Amanda Ribas Flagged By USADA For Potential Violation
UFC strawweight Amanda Ribas has been flagged by USADA for a potential anti-doping violation.
The UFC debut of Amanda Ribas will have to wait.
The 23-year-old Brazilian strawweight was set to compete at July 7's Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale in Las Vegas, but Thursday the UFC released a statement announcing Ribas had been flagged by USADA for a potential anti-doping policy violation.
The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Amanda Ribas of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collected on June 7, 2017. Ribas was scheduled to compete at the Ultimate Fighter Finale in Las Vegas on July 7, 2017. Because of her potential anti-doping violation and the proximity to that event, Ribas has been removed from the card and the UFC is currently seeking a replacement.
Ribas will receive a temporary suspension from USADA with a longer disciplinary sentence pending full investigation. According to USADA's Athlete Test History, Ribas has been tested once in 2017.
Her signing was announced May 16 (h/t MMAFighting.com), and she was quickly penned to face Juliana Lima at the Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale.
