Top Turtle Podcast: Megan Anderson Talks Cyborg, More
Megan Anderson discusses a potential bout with Cris Cyborg during Episode 69 of the Top Turtle Podcast.
Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan Anderson headlines a stacked lineup for Episode 69 of the Top Turtle MMA podcast. Joining UFC standouts Jason Knight and Justin Ledet, this week's article provides all the extra-curricular MMA goodness you need in your life as we lead into May 13's blockbuster UFC 211 event.
Of particular interest, Anderson has recently been tied to a potential showdown with longtime women's MMA juggernaut Cris "Cyborg" Justino. During the podcast, she talked about the UFC's slowly developing 145-pound class, that bout with Cyborg, and more.
"It makes you question if they're actually committed to the division," Anderson said of the UFC's featherweight class. "I think they just need to start finding people at 145. It will really show whether they're committed to the division or not...It's sad that they're not really committing."
One thing that could certainly spice up the division, however, is a bout between Anderson and Cyborg. During a recent episode of The MMA Hour on MMAFighting.com, Cyborg called in to the show while Anderson was speaking to host Ariel Helwani, setting up an impromptu faceoff.
"I didn't know it was happening, but I really wouldn't be surprised if Ariel did set that up. That's very Ariel-like," Anderson said. "But I don't really care. I mean, we're going to fight eventually. Why not now?"
Shifting her attention to current featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie, Anderson continued to open up, saying that she feels the champ is ducking a bout against Cyborg herself.
"Yeah, there is a part of me that thinks that [de Randamie is ducking Cyborg]," Anderson said. "But there are a lot of ways to go about that. A lot of girls in the past have gone to a different promotion, like Bellator, for example. There are different, less obvious ways to do that. I really do think there is something going on with her, and I don't know if she's allowed to talk about that or not. I think, again, she needs to come out and clarify some things."
