The road back to the UFC rolled through Sioux Falls for David Michaud on Saturday night.

The South Dakota native stepped into the cage against fellow Octagon veteran Jake Lindsey at Sioux Falls Fight Night 1 from the Sanford Pentagon. Michaud entered the fight with a victory under his belt since suffering a setback against Dhiego Lima, and was determined to make a statement in front of a lively crowd in his home state.

While the action was back-and-forth in the opening round, the second frame was all Michaud as he landed some heavy bombs on “The Librarian”. Lindsey backed up after eating a combination, but then closed the distance for the clinch. Michaud immediately struck with a clean right elbow that sent Lindsey to the canvas.

And while Lindsey would recover, a twist of fate would end the fight early in the third. Lindsey attempted a takedown that twisted his knee and could not continue.

Michaud took the victory by way of TKO due to injury.
