UFC 210 Results: Charles Oliveira Submits Will Brooks
Charles Oliveira submits Will Brooks with a rear-naked choke in the first round of their bout at UFC 210.
After a series of setbacks and missed marks on the scale, Charles Oliveira came into UFC 210 in desperate need of a positive night inside the cage.
The former featherweight contender met former Bellator champion Will Brooks to kickoff the pay-per-view card on Saturday night. The American Top Team product came into his tilt with Oliveira in Buffalo looking to add an established name to his resume. More importantly though, both men had their backs up against the wall, and it was the Brazilian grappling machine who answered the challenge.
With "Do Bronx" being such a savvy submission grappler, Brooks needed to keep the fight standing, but was on the receiving end of an Oliveira takedown in the early goings. Oliveira would have to dump Brooks on his back one more time before swinging around to take his back and locked in the rear-naked choke. Brooks attempted to fight off the pressure, but Oliveira's grip was simply too strong and he was forced to submit.
Oliveira's victory at UFC 210 breaks a two-fight skid, and could possibly stamp a longterm stay in his new home in the lightweight division.
