Michael Bisping: If GSP Isn't Ready, Yoel Romero Gets His Title Shot
Michael Bisping says he's willing to give Yoel Romero a title shot if Georges St-Pierre doesn't sign their contract soon.
The MMA world was turned on its head earlier this month, when a middleweight title fight between champion Michael Bisping and returning challenger Georges St-Pierre (GSP) was announced.
While the announcement didn't come with a date attached, Bisping has an idea of when he'd like to throw down.
"I want to fight [during] International Fight Week, July 8," Bisping said during a recent episode of his Believe You Me podcast. "So Georges St-Pierre: Get it together. Stop doing your f*cking gymnastics. Stop doing your backflips and whatever it is and let's do this, buddy. Come on. Sign the paperwork. You want it, you sat there at the press conference, you talked big, you sounded confident, so sign the go*damn paperwork. Let's go."

Bisping then took the situation a step further. If GSP doesn't sign the contract, forcing Bisping to wait even longer, the 185-pound champ will call in a replacement opponent.
"If he's not ready, then I guess Yoel Romero gets his title shot," Bisping said. "Listen, I'm not afraid of Yoel Romero. If GSP wants to fight, of course, there's a great storyline there. It's Georges St-Pierre coming back, fighting for the middleweight title, we've been over this a million times. Everyone's heard about this, and it's great, and it'll do big business—but...I'm not willing to sit around, and he doesn't get to call the shots. It's my belt. I'm not just some little asshole waiting in the wings for my title shot."
To Bisping, the clock is ticking, and he's not willing to waste prime years of his fighting life waiting on the former welterweight champion.
"I've got the belt and I'm in my prime," Bisping said. "I don't want to sit around for a year. If we don't fight until September or October, that will be a year, and I'm not willing to wait a year for Georges St-Pierre, regardless. I might as well do two fights in that one year and still make the same money.
So Georges, if you're listening bud, get it together, and let's do this go*damn fight."
