Not everything UFC President Dana White says always comes to fruition, but his declaration that Jessica Andrade would be the next challenger for UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk appears to carry some weight.

At UFC Fight Night 104, Andrade defeated Angela Hill via unanimous decision in a main-card opener that was later awarded the "Fight of the Night" bonus. Shortly after the bout, White told Fox Sports that the Brazilian would “absolutely” be the next challenger for Jedrzejczyk’s title and that he was expecting the two to put on a great fight.

“I mean, when you see the way she fought tonight, just imagine those two squaring off in there,” White said. “The absolute war that will be. That’s going to be a fun fight.”

Watching back at her American Top Team training camp in Coconut Creek, Florida, Jedrzejczyk told FloCombat she was excited to be back in the U.S. and that she was at the start of her next training camp.

“I’m in Florida right now preparing for my next fight,” Jędrzejczyk said. “[Over] the weekend, Dana White announced my next opponent, but it doesn’t matter who it’s going to be. I’m just focusing on me for the minute and trying to get better and better with every single camp.

“I’m very excited that I’m back to American Top Team and I can put in some good work again, for the second time now.”

The Polish champion then commented on Andrade, saying she was happy to test herself against the Brazilian soon.

“Like I said, it could’ve been Jessica [Andrade], it could’ve been Alexa [Grasso], but she lost, it could’ve been Michelle Waterson,” Jędrzejczyk said. “I’m happy that my next fight will be Jessica Andrade. She’s very tough and she has like four wins in the UFC and three in the strawweight division. I think she will be a good challenger.”

While stating she was happy taking on all comers, one woman Jędrzejczyk seemingly doesn’t want to see in the Octagon again any time soon is her fellow Pole, Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Speaking in a previous interview with FloCombat, the current champion stated multiple times that Kowalkiewicz wasn’t deserving of a rematch.

Going by their social media exchanges though, the rivalry between the two Polish fighters wasn’t settled at UFC 205.

For now, it does appear Andrade is next for Jedrzejczyk, but the banter with Kowalkiewicz suggests that book is far from written.
