Brant Scores First-Round TKO at FloBoxing Fight Night
No. 3 ranked WBO middleweight Rob Brant keeps his undefeated streak intact by earning a TKO over Alexis Hloros.
Rob Brant (22-0) soared to victory Friday night, dominating late-replacement Alexis Hloros with a first-round stoppage at FloBoxing Fight Night.
The bout was all Brant from the opening bell, as he put his punches together to the head before unleashing a body shot that left Hlorosm unable to continue late in the first round. While Hloros tried to rise to his feet, it was clear his will to fight had been vanquished.
With the knockout, Brant has finishes in his last four straight bouts and in nine of his last 10. The win was Brant’s second defense of the WBA-NABA middleweight title.
“My coach Derrick James has really installed a lot of confidence in me,” Brant said in the post-fight interview, citing his recent move from Minnesota to Texas to work with James. “It’s the number one thing we had to work on; I’ve always been athletic, I’ve always had the power, it’s the confidence to stand on the inside and let those shots go. Now I’ve got that confidence to do so, which is why I have knockouts in nine of the last 10.”
With his number three WBA ranking still intact, Brant has his sights set on big names in 2017.
“I’m ranked number three; all I ask is that you give me a name. Give me somebody big.” Brant said in the post-fight interview, specifically mentioning the WBA’s number one ranked middleweight Hassan N’Dam and number two ranked middleweight Ryota Murata as fighters he would like to fight in coming months. “It’s great to come back home and compete with a gentleman like Alexis, but I’m looking for top three or a champion right now,” he added.
