Lonsdale bantamweight champion Alan Philpott will walk into his fight with Tom Duquesnoy as an underdog with the bookmakers but with all the belief in the world that he can get the job done.

Philpott has always been a confident man, but he's walking around with an extra twinkle in his eye this week. The 24-year old has a swagger in his step and for good reason. On a Friday night, he has the opportunity to leave the world with its jaws on the floor, and if he can beat Duquesnoy, Philpott's stock will rise like never before.

Speaking to FloCombat ahead of his fight, Philpott described how his preparations have gone better than ever at his new base in Liverpool under coach Dean Garnett.

"This camps gone great you know, you have people saying they've had perfect camps and what not, but this has been a good camp for me," Philpott said. "I've had my diet spot on, and I've got a new sponsor who've had my diet right down. So my whole camp I've had to focus on nothing but my training and improving.

"Before, my whole camp from start to finish was about getting my weight down. I've come to this point now, and I've only got a few pounds to go. I'm fresh. I'm strong. I'm bigger and I'm better in every area, and it's been a good camp."

Duquesnoy walks in to the fight a double weight BAMMA champion and with the all the hype of a man expected to go on to do big things in the UFC in the future.

Despite all the attention being directed in the way of the Frenchman, Philpott isn't bitter in the slightest and is happy with the extra attention he's been building around himself lately.

"Rightly so, Tom deserves everything he gets," Philpott replied when asked about the hype surrounding Duquesnoy. "He's done big things in the sport already. He's chasing his dream, and like myself, he's moved away from home and put himself out of that comfort zone to try and get the best out of himself so he does deserve it.

"I'm happy enough with the attention I'm getting--especially in these last few days I feel like I'm getting it more so. I thought this might be the Tom show and that it would just be him, but people see the difference in me and my mentality and difference in my body shape. They know I'm serious and that I'm not just coming here for the pay or to fight for a bit of fun. I'm coming to take the number one spot, and that's what I'm going to do."

When asked what he expects from the fight on Friday evening, Philpott was respectful but predicted it was going to be a hard evening for the Frenchman.

"He's a tough kid, and I know he's not going to just be one of these fighters that I break," Philpott said. "I can see me finishing him, but like I say he's tough and I will take him to trenches and he will be surviving. He might not break fully, but he will be in survive mode if he lasts in there."

Should he get the win on Friday, Philpott knows exactly what he wants his next move to be, and it involves a fight night close to home on the next BAMMA card in early 2017.

"Well I heard next year they are going to Belfast, so the dream of mine has always been to headline or defend the world title in Belfast," Philpott said. "It's all coming together, I just feel now like everything is coming together, but you never know something else could come up.

"I'm happy enough for the minute with what I'm doing. As long as I've got enough money and such to keep my head above water and keep doing that I'm happy to fight anywhere. The Belfast card definitely is a dream come true. I'm 24 years old, but if that can happen now, I think it'd be the perfect time as well. Beat Tom, get the world title, and defend it in Belfast--that's what I want to do next."
