Roy Nelson got the result he wanted last evening, but for the second fight running he was not impressed with John McCarthy's refereeing.

Nelson took issue with the amount of punishment that McCarthy allowed Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva to endure having knocked him down with a brutal uppercut in the second round.

Nelson followed up with ground and pound but visibly hesitated after landing a few blows. McCarthy stepped in to call the fight shortly after, but Nelson was visibly upset and kicked him in the backside when he when was tending to the downed Brazilian seconds later.

Speaking to UFC.com afterward, Nelson revealed he thought McCarthy let the Brazilian take unnecessary further damage.

"The referee [McCarthy] just did a late stoppage," Nelson said. "I think it's kinda, ya know if I got to do his job too to stop the fight. I had a big conversation with John in the back and apparently, you know, 'Bigfoot' doesn't need to take any more blows to the face."

Nelson expanded on his comments later in the post-fight press conference.

"Dude, I know what a knockout is," he said. "I knock people out for a living. That's what I do. Just because the guy doesn't roll his eyes in the back of his head -- it was just one of those things. I didn't want to hurt 'Bigfoot' more than I had to."

This wasn't the first time that Nelson has taken issue with McCarthy's refereeing. Earlier this week Nelson told the UFC Unfiltered Podcast of his displeasure at McCarthy's involvement in his fight with Derrick Lewis in July and said that he'd been involved in a heated discussion with him both before and during the fight.

During the podcast, Nelson told Jim Norton and Matt Serra that referees should "just stay the hell out of it." Seemingly, McCarthy stayed "out of it" too long for Nelson's liking last evening, and once again he was left unsatisfied with his involvement in the fight.

What remains to be seen is whether Nelson will face any punishment for putting his hands on a referee. The rules and regulations clearly state that any fighter who is found guilty of doing so will face a fine or suspension.

UFC's General Manager of Brazil, Giovani Decker, confirmed to MMA Junkie afterward that the decision wouldn't be taken by the UFC, but it would be decided by the event regulator, the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA).
