Team Alpha Male Gym Story: 'Where You at Motherf******?'
Longtime WEC and UFC veteran Danny Castillo has carved out a nice career for himself at the highest level of the sport.

Scoring career defining wins over Dustin Poirier, Joe Stevenson and Tim Means and scrapping with Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis and Tony Ferguson, the California native has been locked in the cage with some of the best of the best in the sport during his decade-plus long career.

In our latest installment of Gym Stories, Castillo shares a story of how an infamous MMA quote was used to spark his Team Alpha Male squad while simultaneously (and unknowingly) offend one of the sports all-time greats in the process.

"We do a lot of training with the Diaz Brothers," Castillo said. "Something we would always say in the gym was, 'Where you at?' We would say, 'Where you at T.J.?' 'Where you at Coach Bang?' I'm sure you know the reason why, because that was a phrase Nick Diaz made popular in reference to Georges St-Pierre back in the day."

One day, however, the joking expression got real.

"Joseph Benavidez, T.J. Dillashaw and Chad Mendes were all on a card together and sharing the same locker room," Castillo said. "We were in San Jose and Francis Carmont was actually in the same locker room as we were. The whole time, the whole night, we were saying 'Where you at motherf*****?' We had no idea at the time, we didn't realize it until after the fact but GSP was in the locker room with us. I can't imagine what he or Firas (Zahabi) were thinking at the time. It's funny we used it to hype ourselves up and it was something that was originally directed at GSP."
