Invicta 18 was all about the return of Alexa Grasso.

The highly touted prospect had been making a strong name for herself before being forced out of action for the past 17 months due to a series of injuries. A lengthy stint out of the spotlight could do serious damage to a surging career, but Grasso was determined to pick up right where she left off.

Grasso would receive the opportunity to do exactly that on Friday night when she squared off with Jodie Esquibel in the main event at Invicta 18. Where Grasso had been on the mend for a year and change, Esquibel's schedule had been action packed with multiple fights and a run that included a solid scrap on The Ultimate Fighter.

Their paths would collide on Saturday and it was Grasso's night to shine.

Grasso stamped a successful comeback on the strength of crisp striking that battered Esquibel at every turn. While the Albuquerque native pushed the action, Grasso made her pay for her aggression in punishing fashion. The undefeated strawweight was efficient and didn't seem to miss a beat en route to earning the unanimous decision victory.
