Don’t say Amir Khan isn’t up to a challenge.
On Wednesday, just one day removed from his callout of reining UFC featherweight Conor McGregor, it appears the multi-time boxing champion is serious about dawning the 4oz gloves.
Taking to Twitter, the man known as ‘King’ shared an image of him standing inside a UFC Octagon with a UFC championship belt draped on his shoulder.

“With the UFC world title,” wrote Khan. “UFC training has started.”
Khan co-owns Super Fight League, India’s largest mixed martial arts promotion, and has been seen working out alongside former UFC champions Georges St-Pierre and Andrei Arlovski in the past. However, Khan has recognized if he were to pursue the fight against McGregor, he would need to take up a year off from boxing to focus 100-percent on MMA.
“Even if I started to train MMA next year, I’d only be 30 years old,” Khan FloCombat. “I could stop and train for a full year and become a good MMA fighter. It’s in our blood to fight. I’ve been fighting all my life, so for me, I don’t think it’d be a problem for me to learn and switch over to the sport.
Khan was last seen on receiving end of a vicious sixth round knockout to Canelo Alvarez in may.
McGregor was previously linked to a potential super fight against boxing’s pound-for-pound best and box office kingpin Floyd Mayweather Jr. However nothing ever materialized aside from rumors.
McGregor is currently scheduled to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 202 on Aug. 20 at the T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas.
