Will Brooks has officially signed with the UFC.
The embattled former Bellator lightweight champion parted ways last month with the promotion. Today it was announced that Brooks will make his UFC debut against Ross Pearson at The Ultimate Fighter 23 Finale on July 8 in Las Vegas.
The news was first reported by MMA Junkie and subsequently confirmed by FloCombat.
Brooks’ reign as the 155-pound champion in Bellator wasn’t an extended run, but it was nothing short of dominant. He twice defeated former champion Michael Chandler, and defended the belt two more times before being released by Bellator President Scott Coker. Officials also confirmed with FloCombat that Bellator waived all matching rights, freeing Brooks to sign with any company of his choosing on June 15.
