Nate Diaz has risen to become one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts, and on Wednesday the Stockton native proved he’s the best interview in the game.

The younger half of the Diaz brothers sat down with Ariel Helwani for a special installment of The MMA Hour on MMAFighting.com. During the conversation Diaz shared his thoughts on a myriad of topics as he navigated his way through the controversy surrounding his rematch with Conor McGregor that was scrapped for UFC 200.

Never one to bite his tongue, Diaz went off the rip on all things Conor, including the rumored bout between McGregor and pound-for-pound boxing great Floyd Mayweather. Diaz let the verbal jabs fly and dropped his signature real talk on every subject Helwani threw his way.

The highlights are posted below:

On Mayweather vs. McGregor

“Everytime I hear more about it I get a call. I call your bluff. Fight that motherf*****r. I’m the only one of us three that can say I’ll whoop both those motherf*****r in the same night. I’m the only one who has boxed with boxers at the highest level.

“Mayweather is the best boxer there is at winning fights. I’m not even gonna go there. I haven’t been in high level boxing matches like that, but I guarantee you I’d do better than McGregor would. It’s rumors someone is letting out because they are both benefiting from the talk. The media is working their way and those guys are probably having dinner together every night.

“This whole Mayweather thing is a publicity stunt and they are going to keep the ball rolling on it. Everyday when I hear about this Mayweather shit I’m getting phone calls whether or not I’m going to take the fight. I asked to get compensated and they weren’t happy about it. They aren’t talking about it but I think it will get worked out.

“They are trying to put on a freak show fight. He just got boxed up. He didn’t get tapped out. He got beat up and shot. McGregor saying he’s won most of his fights from standup. I’m calling your bluff. Fight Mayweather motherf*****r. Mayweather gonna whoop his ass in a boxing match.”

On the potential of his fight with McGregor being rescheduled

“They hit me up a little later talking about UFC 202 and I didn’t even answer. Before you know it I was training and I hear all this Mayweather vs. McGregor sh*t. I feel like that’s a big ole publicity stunt to hide the fact he got his ass whopped. Then I see on the internet Dana and them went to dinner and all that. They left happy and laughing. I figured that meant I was cut out of the whole deal because he was fighting Mayweather.

“They called my management the next day and asked if I was in or not. I’m like what the f**k? Where’s my dinner? Where’s my meeting. They got ahold of my manager and came out. We had dinner at a nice restaurant because I wanted to show them Stockton is a nice place too. We had our talk, it went how it did and they went home.

“I just basically told them what’s up. It was the biggest fight they’ve had. Or it was the second biggest on 10 days. I know Conor does big numbers but I know I do big numbers too. They always put me on Fox and when they put me on pay-per-view I’ve been the co-main. I believe I’ve had a lot to do with drawing numbers.

On the rumored meeting with Dana White that went poorly

“That was exaggerated. We finished talking and we all walked out. It wasn’t the best meeting, but it wasn’t the worst either. We went and took a picture by the mural downtown here and it was cool. It was just business talk and we both didn’t leave on the happiest notes. But I think stuff is getting done and moving forward.

“I just beat your biggest draw so if you don’t mind I would like to be compensated better than I was the last time. I’ve said yes to this fight with Conor McGregor six times and I’ve only fought him once.

“When did I ever get a rematch? The people I’m trying to fight don’t want to fight me again. They dodged bullets and I’m not dodging them. Conor pulled out and the UFC pulled out and I don’t think the fight was ever really on. I think they were buying time and hiding the fact he got his ass whipped.”

On the lack of push from the UFC

“This is a new deal. This is a new fight. This isn’t UFC 200. This is UFC 202. I said yes to 200 and I wasn’t happy about it. I got rushed into it but I took it. Conor McGregor is artificial. They’ve pushed him everywhere and he didn’t get where he is by whipping all kinds of asses. I don’t do media.

“The UFC kissed his ass and blew him up. Who the f**k has he beat? Who the fuck is Dennis Siver? Is he even ranked? I didn’t get any push after fighting Rory MacDonald and Benson Henderson. All of my following is from whooping ass and talking sh*t. Conor is where he is all because of the UFC’s push.

“Can I sit back for a year and a half and fight Dennis Siver? Will that make me the talk of the town? So they start talking about Mayweather and I’m like ‘Didn’t he (Conor) just get his ass kicked two months ago?’ They created that monster. They did that to him. Then he wanted to dodge all that press because he wanted to train and I’ve been saying that for years.”

On Dana White saying he isn’t a needle mover

“Oh that’s cold. That’s cold Dana. They had a deal with Fox and had to reach certain numbers. Who are they putting on all the headlines on the Fox shows? I understood what was going on but I already knew. This isn’t newly developed information for me. Because I’m up on game, cuss a bit and tell people to f**k off, and they think I’m an uneducated motherf*****r talking about numbers.

“I knew because back in the day I sent a tweet out and it was about Bryan Caraway. That sh*t went viral and people were hitting me up. That’s crazy. After that I knew if I said something it would go viral. I knew I had a bigger following than all these motherf******r. If I can send a tweet out and that many people react then how many people are watching me fight.”

On whether he cares to fight McGregor again

“I don’t even give a f**k. If I got my ass whooped I’d be begging for the fight. Give me the rematch please. Every single fight I’ve lost I’ve asked for the rematch. I’ve always wanted the rematch because if you don’t want a rematch with someone that beat you what the f**k are you in this for?

“If I don’t think I can beat everyone then why am I fighting for. I think I can beat everyone in any weight class. I’m not talking three round fights. I’m talking about fighting til the end. I’ll find a way.

“Fighters saying they’ll fight for free is dumb. Stupid-ass Cowboy Cerrone says that sh*t and that’s dumb to me. Start acting like a business man. Why are you fighting for free you dumb sh*t motherf*****r? That shit gets on my last nerve.

“All the hard work I’ve put in and the hard work I’ve done I’m going to get everything I can take from it. Now I’m like f**k you, pay me. I’m content with getting paid the f**k out from my duties. They were talking about me getting paid on my last fight and I’m like no...that’s reimbursement.”

On whether or not the fight with McGregor happens at UFC 202

“Nothing is done. I don’t think there has been any damage done but we are cool. I have been texting with Dana. I know I may have pissed him off but I’m about getting mine. He understood and I think we are going to figure it out. I’ve learned to stop losing sleep over sh*t because I’ve lost a lot of sleep over my career. I haven’t slept in years really. I’m not sweating it though.

“No one wants to see any other fight. He’s the biggest draw and I’m the biggest draw. He comes in there to fight just like I do. When have I not showed up to fight and whoop a motherf****r's ass. We ain’t friends and it ain’t all good when we are fighting. He’s not my worst enemy but if he signs to fight then it’s real. Do you want to see? You want to see a freak show boxing match or a real fight. I know what I want to see if I’m a fight fan.

“If everything works out straight up financially I’ll fight tomorrow.”
