FloCombat Gym Stories: Isaac Vallie-Flagg Poops his Pants
MMA veteran Isaac Vallie-Flagg tells a whopper of a tale in the latest installment of Gym Stories on FloCombat
By Tony Reid
In our latest installment of our Gym Stories series, we open the doors at an elite MMA gym and catch up with one of the funniest characters in all of combat sports: WSOF welterweight Isaac Vallie-Flagg.
Vallie-Flagg is a King of the Cage, Strikeforce and UFC veteran who has mixed it up with the likes of Takanori Gomi and holds victories over JZ Cavalcante and Yves Edwards, among others. Ike, now co-owner of Jackson’s Martial Arts and Fitness in Albuquerque, has trained for years with the best of the best at the one and only Jackson/Wink’s Gym. The story he shares is from a gym session prior to his time with the super gym.
When one of the funniest guys in the sport is asked to share his most memorable gym story, you get what you ask for.
“There are all kinds of weird ones that I don’t know if anybody wants to hear.” Vallie-Flagg warned. “Oh, f*** it—I’ll share it. One time, I might have had an accident in my pants when I was pushing a fart out. I reached in and grabbed a bit of it, rubbed it on my finger and showed it to my training partner. That was at a different gym though; that wasn’t at Jackson’s. Wow, what a way to start an interview. I feel like we know each other way too well already.”
When pressed for info about the elite killers at his current gym, he shared his thoughts about a few teammates at Jackson/Wink’s. Ike also has a particular teammate in mind to get in the cage and throw down with before it's all said and done.
“Me and Cub (Swanson) have said that at the end of our careers, when we are both fat and old, that it would be a great honor to fight each other; to just get in there and throw down. I say that will all respect. Cub is one of my favorite fighters style-wise, and he is one of my favorite people in the world. At the end of it, when it’s all said and done, we want to get in there and get after each other and see what happens.
“It’s about the utmost respect. We are good friends, we know each other so well and spar so often that we literally fight every time we spar anyway. It’s like that with Cub, with John Dodson and everyone else. The only guy, to this day, that scares me is Donald Cerrone. That dude just owns me.”
