Fighters are a different breed by nature, but the basic appeal of hand-to-hand combat led Aaron Williams to mixed martial arts. He simply loves to fight, and his passion is still going strong.
This Saturday night in Biloxi, Mississippi, Williams will bring his talents center stage when he squares off with Chris Pham in the main event at Atlas Fights 27, which will be streamed live on FloCombat. The showcase bout will mark the third meeting between the two fighters, and Williams is fired up to end the rivalry in dominant fashion.
“I am really looking forward to this next fight with [Pham],” Williams said. “Our two other meetings have been tough fights, but I believe I’ve been the one who has improved since our first one. I have been working hard to expand my skills and I think the difference between us will show on Saturday night.”
His third clash with Pham will mark his 49th professional fight, and Williams has never felt better. There is a progression that occurs from time logged in live-fire competition, and in that category, Williams will have a decisive edge over his opponent.
“It’s easy to look at the overall picture, but I honestly don’t focus on the past all too much,” Williams said. “I take it one fight at a time, because that allows me to see the improvements I’ve made with each step. It also helps to show what I need to work on and then I hit the gym to make the changes necessary. Every fight is a chance to move forward and make all the hard work to use. In the fight is where it counts.”
In addition to being a main event showcase at Atlas Fights 27, Williams is also anchoring the promotion’s debut on FloCombat. There will be a lot of eyes on the Mississippi native, but Williams doesn’t see any additional pressure he won’t be able to handle.
With more than a decade and nearly 50 professional fights under his belt, nothing could happen on Saturday night that would surprise him.
“I’ve been at this for a long time and I’ve been all over the place, “ Williams said. “When have that much experience it really allows you to put your focus where it needs to be and just block out everything that isn’t directly tied to the job you have to do. I know the job ahead of me and I’m going in there to get it done.”
