Conor McGregor knows how to command the spotlight.
“Notorious” took to his Twitter account on Monday morning to announce he’s back on the card for UFC 200. McGregor even used the extra character space to thank UFC President Dana White and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta.

Sources confirmed to FloCombat that there has been no change in McGregor's status with the event, so it appears the tweet was simply another move in an ongoing chess match between McGregor and the UFC.
The savvy Irish superstar rocked the fight world last week when he announced his apparent retirement via his Twitter account. The UFC responded by announcing McGregor had been pulled from his main event rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200--citing the featherweight champion’s refusal to participate in a media tour to promote the event.
The back-and-forth continued in the days that followed the shake up as McGregor released a statement further explaining his stance, and White held his ground in regard to McGregor’s removal while being questioned by the media at the press conference the organization held to announce their annual International Fight Week celebrations this summer in Las Vegas.

According to White, allowing McGregor to fight at UFC 200 simply wouldn’t be fair to all of the other athletes who’ve fulfilled their media duties in the past, and would set a terrible precedent for the future. White also acknowledged his understanding of Zuffa’s decision being an unpopular one, as even Diaz himself chimed in that he really didn’t care what McGregor did or didn’t do as long as he showed up to fight on July 9.
One thing Diaz did make clear was that his involvement in the card was predicated on McGregor standing across the cage from him. Without Conor involved, Diaz stated he was going on vacation, and the Stockton native has never been one to throw out loose talk he won’t back up.
With McGregor’s tweet on Monday morning perhaps that vacation gets postponed a bit longer. Or, McGregor has made another move in an attempt to force the UFC’s hand?
