Valor Fights 33: Official Results and Recap
The official results for Valor Fights 33 from Chattanooga, TN
By Hunter Homistek
Valor Fights 33 took over Chattanooga, Tennessee’s Camp Jordan Arena Saturday evening, bringing fireworks for the fans in attendance and those streaming live on FloCombat.
The card showcased some of the region’s best amateur and professional fighters, and viewers were treated to knockouts, submissions, and hard-fought decisions aplenty.
That main event, though...
The night’s marquee bout between Valor Fights middleweight champion Sid Wheeler and challenger Kendrick Miree was truly remarkable. A rock ‘em, sock ‘em affair that’ll go down as one of the best fights ever under the Valor banner, Wheeler submitted Miree in the final seconds of Round 5, moving to 5-0 as a pro.
It wasn’t all easy for the 185-pound champ, though. The 33-year- old Miree charged Wheeler out of the gate, clipping him with punches against the fence and scoring a big takedown. In Round 2, Miree sent crashing to the canvas with a ferocious knee. Wheeler recovered, regained guard, and eventually took over the fight.
In a rock ‘em-sock ‘em affair, Miree and Wheeler traded massive shots for nearly the full 25 minutes of action. Late in Round 5, Wheeler landed in mount after a scramble, teeing off with big shots from the top that forced Miree to turtle. From there, Wheeler sunk in the rear-naked choked, and it was done.
For Wheeler, the title defense was well earned, showing he could survive being badly hurt, stay calm, and emerge victorious. It was the kind of win he needed to prove he belongs at the next level.
Just before that insane main event, Ronnie Lawrence knocked out Brandon Webb to claim Valor Fights’ bantamweight title. The win moved Lawrence to 3-0 as a pro, with all three victories coming via KO.
Webb, the noted wrestler, could do little to stifle Lawrence’s stand-up attack. Throughout, Lawrence appeared quicker and sharper on the feet, eventually catching his foe with a brutal right hand in Round 2 that shut out the lights and earned him a shiny new trophy for the mantle.
