Report: Brock Lesnar Enters USADA Testing Pool, UFC Return Coming?
Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has entered the USADA testing pool.
The Beast Incarnate -- Brock Lesnar -- might be planning a UFC return, y'all.
Per The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, the former UFC heavyweight champion, WWE superstar, and major MMA draw Lesnar has entered the USADA testing pool. This news aligns with recent rumors that Lesnar and his team were talking with the UFC and expressing interest in an octagon return.
For what it's worth, Meltzer's report says that "much of the story was denied to us, including Heyman being in the offices." There's no doubt, however, that the rumor, coupled with Lesnar's entry into the testing pool, points toward some interest in a return to the UFC.
Lesnar last competed at UFC 200 in July 2016 against Mark Hunt, winning a unanimous decision. That victory was overturned, however, after Lesnar tested positive for clomiphene. It now stands as a no-contest on his record, moving him to 5-3-1 overall.
For this misstep, Lesnar was suspended one year by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) and fined $250,000 (h/t MMAFighting.com). That suspension put his earliest return at July 2017, but after retiring in February of 2017 and effectively freezing his suspension, Lesnar will now be able to return in December 2017 at the earliest.
Currently, UFC 219 is scheduled for December 30 in Las Vegas, the most likely landing place for Lesnar should this latest news in fact signify a return to the eight-walled cage.
