Why Doo Ho Choi Versus Renan Barao Isn't Happening
The rumoured bout between Doo Ho Choi and Renan Barao isn't going ahead at UFC on Fox 24 and here's why
The UFC announced a whole host of fights last evening for two April fight cards, but not included among them was a featherweight bout pitting Doo Ho Choi versus Renan Barao.
It had been heavily rumored earlier in the evening that a fight between the two was set to go down, but it remained unannounced when other bouts such as Rose Namajunas vs. Michelle Waterson were released.
MMA Junkie's John Morgan reached out to the UFC for an official response shortly after and received word that the bout would not be going ahead.

To understand the confusion, FloCombat reached out and a source has informed us that the fight was expected to take place as the main event of the UFC on Fox 24 card in Kansas City on April 15. Choi however, pulled out of the fight and Barao is now looking for a new opponent at 145-pounds. Our source was unable to confirm a return date for Choi who was last back in action at UFC 206 in Toronto, Canada when he was on the losing side of a 15-minute war with Cub Swanson.
While disappointing we won't see the 'Korean Super Boy' and former UFC bantamweight champion go at it in Kansas, the event had several other entertaining bouts announced last evening.
The main event is yet to be determined, but the UFC's No. 5 and No. 7 ranked women's strawweight fighters will go at it when Rose Namajunas takes on Michelle Waterson. In flyweight action Louis Smolka takes on TUF winner Tim Elliot, while light heavyweights Devin Clark and Jake Collier will also go toe-to-toe in Missouri. The other bout announced last evening was a middleweight fight between Anthony Smith and Andrew Sanchez.

More fights are expected to be added to the card in due course.
