Sam Alvey Explains Beef with Mike Perry
Sam Alvey is a busy man.

Having recovered from a broken jaw earlier this year, Alvey got his first fight of the year under his belt in June against Elias Theodorou at UFC Fight Night 89. After a disappointing defeat, the ever-smiling middleweight got back on track with wins in both July and August, notching impressive stoppages against Eric Spicely and Kevin Casey.

Alvey was then expected to face Alex Nicholson on October 15 in Manila, Philippines. However, after the show was canceled, Alvey's fight was rescheduled for November 5 at The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 3 Finale in Mexico City.

Suffice to say, it's been a hectic time for Alvey, as he's navigated back-to-back-to-back fight camps while also welcoming his third child into the world. Despite leading the chaotic life of being a father of three and a UFC middleweight on the rise, even Alvey has time for Twitter beef. As expected, he takes it all with a smile.

Twitter beef with Mike Perry

Alvey's latest--and possibly his only ever clash on Twitter--came a few weeks ago with none other than "Platinum" himself, UFC welterweight Mike Perry--a controversial fighter who just so happens to be a teammate of Alvey's next opponent, Nicholson.

Speaking on his podcast this week, Alvey explained what had gone down between the two.

"It was kind of funny," Alvey said. "Alex posted something saying he's just got 'a pre-sweat done with a buddy before we heading overseas and whoop some ass.'  Me, I thought he was poking fun at me, and I thought he was talking about himself before he goes over the pond like we were going to, to Manila. I responded, 'Oh, who's that?' expecting him to joke back with me. But then he said, 'It's the silver gorilla,' so I replied, 'Well, wish him luck for me.' That's all I said."

It was at this point things took a sour turn with the arrival of Perry to the conversation.

"Then Perry came back on," Alvey said. "Pardon my language, but he said 'F**k you, you f**k.' From there, it just went off. I responded a few more times saying 'Wait, wait, wait--I was wishing you luck.' To that, he said, 'Take your luck and shove it up your a** you f**k t**d.' Pardon my language again. It just went on.

"I went and told this all to my team and then Keefe Barry went on there and again didn't say anything that bad and he said something like, 'Wow, the rumors about Perry must be true,' and that just egged Perry on more. He said, 'You and Keefe should suck each other's whatever's' and he just went on."

Post on MMA forums? Sam's watching…

With all this playing out in the public eye, the online forums such as Reddit MMA took notice with what had just gone down. Alvey himself couldn't believe the amount of attention the matter got.

"Last time I checked, there were like 20 pages on Sherdog talking about this whole conversation me, Keefe Barry and Platinum Perry had," Alvey said. "Reddit had like close to a thousand comments on the post about that. It was pretty crazy.

"At one point, I tagged Dana White in it, and all I was doing was reminding him that the UFC can see stuff. That got brought up and people were calling me a snitch and saying, 'Remember what happens to people who snitch.' I'm snitching, Dana already sees everything."

McGregor vs. Perry? Not even close.

Alvey's dislike for Perry became all the more apparent when he later picked another fighter he isn't particularly fond to handily beat his fellow American.

"I'm not a Conor McGregor fan by any means, but Conor would run circles around him," Alvey said. "Both verbally and in the Octagon. This kid (Perry) is slow as molasses--and that's coming from me. He hits hard and that makes him fun to watch, but I don't think he's going to have the career that Conor McGregor has had so far."

Seemingly, Alvey isn't quite done with his Twitter exchanges with Perry.

"I'll wish him luck again. Yeah, that's what I will do," Alvey said. "Before every one of his fights, I will send him good luck."
